Okay, this was really taken yesterday evening, but it was such a cool shot, I couldn’t resist.

The 94-story structure of the Trump Tower is completed and is already occupied up to the 60th floor. A friend of mine is a construction engineer for the project. See that construction elevator on the side? He said he might be able to take me up there for a view from the top.
Waivers would need to be signed.

Finally!

Yesterday, the Trump Tower finally "topped out" at 92 stories. It is now the second tallest building in Chicago. The building where I work, The Aon Center, has now been relegated to the third tallest, just in case any of you were wondering.


Now, if only Donald would do something about his hair. . . .

The Spa at Trump

As I’m sure you’re all aware by now, the Crunch Fitness in my building is closing down at the end of the month. I’ll now have to walk five whole blocks to another facility in order to use a treadmill.

But wait! There’s another option.

There was a notice in the lobby of my building. Apparently, all of us at Marina Towers get to have a free visit at “The Spa at Trump” which is at the new Trump International Hotel and Tower just a block away.

Isn’t that nice of Donald?

The building isn't even completed (see pic) but the Hotel and Spa are up and running.

Then, if you want to join, the member ship is a paltry two-thousand dollars and $190 a month.

But before you gasp at that price, look at what you get. . .

. . . For one thing, they offer these “Trump Signature Gemstone Treatments” which are massages with oils infused with diamonds, rubies, emeralds or sapphires. Apparently each of these precious gems balance a different “chakra”.

I think the Lebanese place around the corner serves chakras in pita breads. I don’t know why one would need them balanced by rubbing them with sapphires, but Donald is a pretty unique guy.

If your “root chakra” is out of whack or if your inner self needs uplifting, then be sure to request the Revitalizing Rubies Massage. Heaven forbid you request the ruby massage when your crown chakra is out of balance which, of course everybody knows, requires the Purifying Diamond Massage.

Better yet, you can have a pre-treatment consultation in which your specific “Dosha” will be identified. Specific oils will create a harmonious relationship between your three “Doshas”.

Or, (for men only) you can be massaged with white truffle oil. (I'll bet it's just Wesson)

Actually, this sounds like it's approaching “happy ending” territory . . .

Frankly, I don’t think I’d like anyone messing with my root chakra, thank you very much. And if anyone rubbed any kind of oil on me, (Eeeww!) I'd be running for the showers with a big bottle of Dawn.

As I was reading all this, I was thinking, “Oh my god. Who actually GOES for this . . . this. . . . bullshit???”

Are there actual people who think, "Hmmm. I think I need to go for the Revitalizing Ruby Massage rather than the Purifying Diamond Massage today."

Apparently, there are.
And that scares me.

I think I'll just keep my chakras with Crunch Fitness.



And, by the way, my Old Spice Body Wash from Walgreens actually smells pretty nifty, thank you very much.

Trump and Spire Update

Here is this morning's photo of the Trump Tower. It still has a way to go. Every time I think they've finished with the structure, they jack the cranes up and add some more. (The cranes were jacked up again just a couple of days ago.

As I was driving into Chicago from the south side the other day, one could see that the Trump Tower has really changed the skyline of the city. The building I work in (The Aon Center) is no longer the second tallest.

And here is a big round hole where the Chicago Spire will be. There are still 150 stories to be added to it.

But can you believe this? One third of the condos have already been sold.

So, you better hurry if you want to live here.

Higher and Higher

Here is this morning's photo of the Trump International Hotel and Tower. I now have to stand back a couple of blocks to get it all in one photo. . . . And it's still got a ways to go.

I snapped this pic of the Trump Tower on the way to work this bright and sunny morning.

They've still got about 15 stories to go, but the hotel that occupies the first 16 floors is already open.

Just in case any of you want to stay there during your visit to Chicago.

Here is today's pic of the Trump International Hotel and Tower.

See that uppermost section they're working on? That will be the last section, but it will be twice as tall as the section below it.

So, that should give you an idea of how tall this sucker is going to be.

Living in the Slums

Whenever I can' think about anything to write about, I usually end up writing about
1. Cold weather
2. Tall Buildings

So, today, it's tall buildings. Again.

The Trump Tower is about 2/3 completed. Condos there will average $1,000 per square foot.

Construction on the 150-story Chicago Spire has begun. Condos there will go for $1,100 per square foot. (You do the math).

My little bitty apartment at Marina Towers goes for a fraction of that amount.

When Trump and Spire folks all move in, I'll be, like, the low-life in the neighborhood.

I don't care. I love my little bitty apartment.
